Spotlight on Your Favorite Employee at Louis & Sons

In this section, we hope to get you familiar with some of the great people we have working here

Gus

Gus has been working with Louis & Sons Drywall, Inc. for 15 years! He started out installing batt insulation, then when we opened Gemini Spray Foam Systems in 2017, he moved on to apply spray foam insulation. Gus has a son named Fabian and a daughter named Amaury. In his spare time, he likes to relax at home and go on walks on the boardwalk. Gus is a great member of the Louis & Sons team and always has a smile on his face. We are so lucky to have him!

Helpful Tips for Building in the Summer

We have been experiencing problems completing basements due to the extreme humid weather we’ve been having. Typically, basements take longer to dry because naturally they are underground and have a lower ambient temperature and higher humidity levels. Lately, we have seen several basements develop mildew (not mold) on the surface of the drywall right about after the second coat. The moisture from the spackle combined with the wet and hot weather we have been having is causing this problem. We urge everyone working on their basements now to get a good size dehumidifier. If not possible, fans may work as well. The mildew is easily treatable with a bleach water combination and does not need to be professionally taken care of as long as it’s treated before it can get out of control. It is better, however, to prevent this situation by providing proper ventilation and moisture control.

New Jersey Residential Real Estate Market Update Up to June 2025

NJ RESIDENTIAL REAL ESTATE MARKET UP TO JUNE 2025

Source: https://www.newjerseyrealestatenetwork.com/blog/new-jersey-real-estate-market-update/

“May 2025 brought a blend of stability and subtle shifts in the New Jersey real estate market. Statewide, closed sales rose by 0.8% compared to last year, showing continued buyer activity even amidst national uncertainty. The inventory of homes for sale surged by 19.3%, giving buyers more choices than they’ve had in recent months. Prices are steadily climbing as well; the median sales price rose 5.0% across all property types, indicating healthy demand and continued equity gains for sellers.

Single Family Homes: Closed sales dipped by 0.5%, but the median sales price jumped 7.1% to $600,000. This suggests that higher-end homes are still selling, despite affordability challenges persisting for some buyers.

Townhouse-Condos: Closed sales rose 2.1% and the median price remained stable at $420,000 (+0.2%). These are increasingly popular with first-time buyers and downsizers looking for value.

Adult Communities: Sales declined by 3.1%, but prices increased by 6.1% to $380,000, reflecting rising demand in limited inventory pockets.”

Caroline’s Corner – Words of Wisdom

Anyone who has met or talked to our Office Manager will know that she is the most positive, optimistic and wonderful person you will ever meet. She often has quotes that get us through our tension-filled days. We thought we would like to include her in our newsletter in a section we call “Caroline’s Corner – Words of Wisdom.”

“What’s big today will melt tomorrow.”

Cartoon

Cartoon that says, "Some types of walls you might encounter on your next construction project." The first panel says "Pony Walls" and shows a picture of a pony with drywall hung from its sides. The next panel says "Knee Walls" and has a drawing of two knees in the attic roof. The final panel says "Party Walls" and has a picture of a wall with hands, a mouth, and sunglasses partying with the neighboring tenants.

Jokes

With the rise of self-driving vehicles, it’s only a matter of time before we get a country song where a guy’s truck leaves him too.

What do you call a room full of cynical plumbers? A skeptic tank
