Welcome to the tenth issue of our newsletter.

We hope you are having a wonderful holiday season. Be sure to spend lots of time with family and friends and drink lots of hot chocolate because it’s cold outside! As always, if you have a project that you would like to feature in the next issue or know someone that would be interested in receiving our monthly newsletter, let us know.

Project Spotlight
schmalz sign

Recently, we did some work for Schmalz European Provisions, a butcher shop in Springfield, NJ. The freezer was a very tight space to add spray foam, but we were up to the challenge. Schmalz is a family-owned and operated company that provides traditional Bavarian-style meat to an American audience. They also provide products from other regions in Europe and Asia. If you’re looking to get a taste of authentic German cuisine, Schmalz is your next stop. Their bratwurst was even featured in the NYC Steuben Day Parade!

Spotlight on Your Favorite Employee at Louis & Sons

In this section, we hope to get you familiar with some of the great people we have working here

luis

Luis has been working at Louis & Sons for four years! He works with Marcelino and installs batt insulation. Luis has two brothers, Fernando and Miguel. His favorite food is enchiladas and in his free time, he likes wearing cool clothes, lifting weights, and visiting his grandmother. We are so happy to have Luis and are grateful for everything he does for Louis & Sons.

St Jude Jersey Shore Dream Home – CMM Custom Homes

Lately, we’ve been working with CMM Custom Homes to build a Jersey Shore Dream Home for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. This home is in Manasquan and all proceeds will be donated to the hospital once the project is completed.

When St. Jude first opened in 1962, childhood cancer was considered incurable. However, with research, St. Jude helped push the survival rate from 20% to over 80%. St. Jude is entirely donation-based and families never receive a bill for treatment, travel, housing or food. The goal for St. Jude is to help children not only survive, but thrive as well. We’re proud to support St. Jude in this project to help change the lives of thousands of families across the country.

Christmas Party

On Thursday December 18th, we had a Christmas Party for the Louis & Sons crew at La Tapatia in Asbury Park. We enjoyed fajitas, flautas, and carnitas throughout the night and raffled off prizes to some lucky employees. We would like to thank Campbell Supply Co. for generously donating a TV. Cheers to another great year at Louis & Sons and we thank you all for your continued support.

Kids in Venezuela

This year, Louis & Sons donated to help kids in need in Venezuela. Our donation was able to provide over 150 toys, food, a Mickey Mouse mascot, and an appearance from Santa at a Christmas event in the neighborhood!

DCA Announces New Web Portal for Home Builders and Homebuyers

The New Jersey Department of Community Affairs (DCA) has announced plans to create an online portal for new home builders and homebuyers starting in 2026. This web portal will make it easier to register and apply for home warranties without the need for paperwork, increasing efficiency in the home warranty process. This portal will also have a Builder Lookup feature that allows users to determine whether a builder is current with their registration, which must be renewed every two years. Homeowners can also submit warranty claims through this portal and builders can scan a QR code for their registration.

Helpful Tips

It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas and while you are dashing through the snow and walking in a winter wonderland, try to remember that the elves doing the drywall and taping in your homes need heat.

Yes, it’s that time of year again where builders, project managers, and homeowners must supply heat for their projects. Unlike the other trades, we absolutely require heat for the taping process to run smoothly. If possible, get the regular heat running. We will turn it off before we sand. If not, please rent propane tanks and heaters. The barbeque size is not going to cut it. You need the 100lb tanks and they have to run overnight in freezing conditions.

Here are some reliable sources to rent from:

We’ve used these companies before:

  • Seaboard Welding Supply – Ocean Township, NJ – 732-493-8100
  • Suburban Propane Partners, L.P. – Hamilton, NJ – 1-800-776-7263

You can also try:

  • SEMCORE Sales and Rentals – Eatontown, NJ – 732-542-0006
  • Blue Flame Propane – Clinton, NJ – 877-395-0450
  • Region Energy – Dover, NJ 973-366-3100

The Farmer’s Almanac foresees a colder than average winter with wild to wild temperature changes and below normal precipitation. An old fashioned winter with dramatic swings in temperature is predicted.

With this in mind, let’s prepare so we can continue working and not delay your projects. I know there is a cost involved, but having a project sit idle incurs costs as well such as interest payments, taxes, and possible lost sales.

We appreciate all your efforts and will work with you as best we can to accommodate your schedule.

Thank you so much for your help. That being said, I want to wish everyone a joyous holiday season. We here at Louis & Sons have truly been blessed with the best clients. Whether it’s the big corporation builder or the homeowner doing small renovation on their home, we appreciate you all and are thankful you chose us to work in your homes.

We have also been blessed with the greatest workforce anyone can ask for. We are truly grateful for the men and women who work here and they all take extreme pride in what they do.

Our suppliers are also part of our team and the close relationship we have built together makes all of our jobs easier. I want to extend a special thank you and holiday greeting to all of them.

Bob and I and all of our family and staff members wish you all the best, most peaceful and wonderful holiday season and promising new year to come.

Thanks,

Michael Gemignani
President

Cartoon

Cartoon of Gingerbread men in the inside of a Gingerbread house. The insulation is made of cotton candy and the wood framing is made from Pocky candy. One Gingerbread man is using a drill to screw sheets of drywall made of graham cracker. One Gingerbread man says, "Sure, the outside of Gingerbread houses look nice, but the inside is what matters more. The insulation keeps us warm in this marshmallow world in the winter."
